Six Months {Lake County IL, Newborn Photographer}

It’s crazy to think that this little guy is already 6 months old! It feels like just the other day when I first met his Mom and Dad at Panera and he was just a few months away from even being born. It’s so amazing to watch a little family grow and be able to capture moments along the way with them from their bump session to their newborn session. This session was quite a treat because his little personality was shinning though…it was also the first time he got to see and touch grass. How were you when you first touched grass? Did you like it or hate it? My mom tells me stories of how I hated the grass as a little girl and how I would cry the second I was put down in it. Go figure…this explain why I’m not a wilderness girl. 🙂 This little guy was the complete opposite of me and was so curious about the green stuff. He could not get enough of it! He would constantly crawl to the side of the blanket to reach for the green strings. It was such a great moment to watch and capture. I think they will have a hard time keeping this little one inside as he continues to grow up!

I can’t wait to see this little guy continue to grow!

Your photos are meant to capture you and your family in this current moment…so why not include the little things that will bring back extra memories? I love how easy it is to simply add in a little toy or family pet to your session and suddenly your photos tell more about you!

College Bound {Cary IL, Senior Photographer}

I have moments when I don’t think I’m in my 30’s. Like it’s all pretend and I’m going to wake up suddenly with my Mom telling me I’m going to be late for school and not to forget to drop off my sister and brother. Moments when I feel like I just graduated high school and next fall I’ll be starting my first year in college. Maybe because life is so fresh and exciting for you when you are ending your journey in high school and about to start life at college…maybe because it’s true what they say about how being a kid is the easy part of life. Whatever it is, there are moments when I secretly wish I was back in my teens. (Don’t worry Jeff, I wouldn’t give up one day without you…)

Spending an afternoon this past fall with Alyssa was such a treat. I enjoyed seeing how excited she was about going off to college and I truly understand how it feels to know you’ll leave behind your furry friend. I know Alyssa will do awesome with what life has in store for her and I hope she enjoys every little moment on her journey at college.

Family of Four {Round Lake Beach IL, Family Photographer}

A few weekends ago I got the chance to snap some photos for a very cute family. We visited a local park near Round Lake Beach and after a bit of silliness, smiles were plastered across all faces. A lot could be due to Daddy showing us his fashion poses and Mr Jeff being the best bubble maker in town; either way, the girls were having a great time. It’s amazing to see these little girls with a bit of differing personalities. Little Miss C is the shy timid one and Little Miss L is the curious one a little unsure of this crazy family she has. When I asked Little Miss C how old she was, she promptly told me she was 2. This was true, however, she had just celebrated her 3rd birthday party with her friends early in the day and would be turning 3 during the following week. The honesty of a “3” year old! I have a feeling Mom and Dad will have nothing to worry about with Little Miss C being a rule breaker. Let’s hope that Little Miss L doesn’t make up for Little Miss C’s timidness.

Prince Turns 9 {Round Lake Beach IL Photographer}

Today my kitty turns 9! Trust me I’m not some crazy cat lady, there will be no birthday party or presents given (unless you count extra kitty treats as gifts), just a little moment to think about these past 9 years with my little man. It’s funny to think about all the lessons he’s taught me.

Meeting new kitties / people can be scary at first, but in the end they can turn out to be your best friend.
Trust his instincts on guys…I could have saved myself quite a few heart aches if I would have taken his cue and ran when a few guys came to my house.
Enjoy desert for your main meal. There is always room for kitty treats.
Naps are a key part in life. You feel so refreshed and spunky after a little shut eye.
Nightly snuggles are required in any relationship to keep the love flowing.
He is my personal alarm clock that is not effected by power outages or vacations.
Find joy in the little things: glitter balls, empty boxes, sun rays, freshly cleaned bed sheets.
Don’t be afraid to speak up when you think you aren’t getting enough attention.
When mom says “No” always ask dad.
Everyone needs some unconditional love in their life!

Happy Birthday Prince…let’s hope for another 9 years!
